Nothing stops Samuel from his exploration around the house

Samuel is wondering what is inside the hole?

my mama

It has been 4 years since I lost blogged. Now a mother of an almost one year old son, I loved my mum even more. I prayed for delayed progression of her dementia that has left her living on puree and milk diet. It's painful to see her so much weaker and with unclear speech. Tonight, she smiled and managed to speak audibly for me to make out what she's trying to say to me " Go home now.... looked out for traffic"

back to school again and again! Siong AH!

I am back to school again since my last child care course ended in Dec 08. This time round, it is social work course. Very intensive course with 2 assignments and exam within a month.

Actually, I was begining to have second thoughts about continuing the course in the midst of the first course module ..... However, it is just "deferring" the agony cos I have to complete the course sooner or later. Besides, I have my colleagues to "accompany" me. So the journey would not be so lonely, I think........

Now, I am taking a break from working on my 2nd assignment for my 2nd course module. I just started the course on 15 August 09 and have already submited 3 assignments and went through one exam. urgggggggggghhhhh........ just have to grit my teeth and push myself through this period...... the change of a new helper for my parents have made the period more siong as I have to train the new helper while squeezing out time to work on the assignment due next Wed and Exam next Sunday... Oh yes, about the exam - it is a day after Deepavali.......i really feel sorry for my indian classmates who have to juggle between the deepavali celebrations and preparing for exam.......

recovering from SHOCK!

my mum scared the living daylights out of me today. As usual, I left her in her wheelchair (wheels locked) while I went to get a cab outside the clinic after her medical appointment. I managed to get a cab and hop inside while we went to fetch my mum. As the cab reversed towards the clinic entrance, I was too shocked when the cabbie told me that my mum just wheeled herself out of the clinic. I had a bad feeling that the wheels would got caught in the upcoming drain. I could not sprung out of the cab in time and I saw her flung out of the wheelchair before my eyes. She hit her forehead and within seconds, there was a big bump. Good thing, the clinic has X-ray facilities. She was given the green light to go home as there was no visible fracture......... the thought of incident still give me shivers...

Song En - 颂恩 is now 7 months old!

My close friend, lily drop us an email today about her darling Song En who is now 7 months old (refer to the blog entry in Nov 07) . Thanks to her email and I have resumed to blogging again after a 3-month break.

Here's an update of Song En through her proud mummy :)
" Hi Auntie , I am 7M,4Wks old now & weighs 8kg.

my favourite activities - bang on my musical toy, practise ballet (stand up & down) on ma ma's stationary bike,

I can already stand without support for 5 seconds, walk (unsteadily) using the toy walker. i have also sprouted 2 teeth- itchy, bothersome & makes it difficult for me & pa pa & ma ma to sleep "

I realise how fast time flies whenever I noticed how big the little ones have grown. It is a heavy responsibility to bring up the little ones and not an easy one too ......my 200-hour attachment at a child care centre was completed recently with a lot of "blood and sweat" - juggling the job of being a "mother, teacher and cleaning auntie" to the little 4 year olds . Hence,I have deep admiration for parents out there, who have done a good job in bringing up their children.

Lunar New Year! 何谓 拜年

In the blink of an eye, two days of Lunar New Year had gone by and it's the third day today.... goodnesss gracious, time really passes us by.......It is more evident when I noticed how fast my little nephews and nieces have grown....Cradling in their parents' arms last year and this year, can walk and the occasional "mumbling and uttering"......

In particular , I noted that some of the younger ones seemed to have changed -and for the better... a nephew in his teens (same name as the famous cookies ) who used to be rather reticient in our presence, actually "open up" and joked with us and the elders.....Wow!

Also, one of my favourite pairs of nephews gladly posed for me when I wanted to take a photo of them....... Last year, it took some effort for me to coax them.......

My papa is most happy when it comes to Lunar New Year...he as usual being observant and also meticulous in his quiet ways, would gently remind me to get ready the Ang Bao money for him, prepare the new year goodies, put up decorative items around the house.........come the first day of Lunar New Year, he would be up early to wait for his bunch of nieces and nephews to come and 拜年.........

I treasure such gatherings as it serves as a good platform for everyone to get together to catch up... However, sometimes, I do wonder how long the tradition of going to our relatives' places to 拜年 will last... especially after the passing of the older generation.... The elders serve as a critical link to bind the younger generations together ..............I guess, it is all up to us, to make a commitment to keep the tradition going...... and reflect.何谓 拜年..........

my niece's wedding today! Part TWO

In the blink of an eye, the wedding dinner is finally over......all those months of preparation by the couple finally come to an end with the wedding dinner.......I'm sure Darren n Pearlyn must be heaving sigh of relief now.......hahaha, before counting their ang paos :P

The best part of the wedding preparation is that it is also a good platform for the couple to know more about each other ........since it is one of the the very first big project to be undertaken by the couple which involves tedious planning, agreement/compromises on a number of items, and then executing the programmme........

Check out the pix for tonight's wedding dinner.........http://picasaweb.google.com/raetee/2007_12_21DarrenNPearlynWeddingDINNER?authkey=VeySSXQRQgM
